Narren in Christo

Das Pauluswort 'Wir sind Narren um Christi willen' hat Menschen immer wieder dazu geführt, sich den gesellschaftlichen Konventionen radikal zu verweigern, sich einfältig, rebellisch, gar 'idiotisch' zu geben. Diese - vielen Christen fremde - Form der Frömmigkeit (Askese) spielt in der Russisch-Orthodoxen Kirche bis heute eine große Rolle. In biographischen, literarischen und theologischen Begegnungen mit den 'Jurodivye', den 'Narren um Christi willen' wurde während der Fachtagung 2016 von Kirche im Osten das Verstehen der Orthodoxie vertieft. This form of piety (ascetism) - strange for many Christians - plays an important role in the Russian Orthodox Church up to this day. Biographical, literary and theological encounters with the 'Jurodivye', the "fools for Christ's sake", in the course of a conference of the organisation 'Church in the East' in 2016, helped promote a better understanding of Orthodoxy.
